1. Since the foreigner can go to Thailand as a tourist by without a visa in several times, Does Thai Immigration office has any regulations about how long can they stay in Thailand by without visa?

Answer Regarding to some kind of foreigner from taking the advantage of entering to Thailand by without a visa in several times for working in Thailand illegally so Thai Immigration office has provided the regulation to prevent this. Nowadays, foreigners around 42 countries including American Citizen can travel to Thailand for 30 days by without a visa. They can only stay in Thailand for 30 days each time and the total must not be over than 90 days within 6 months from the first date of arrival. If they wish to travel for long term, they must apply for a tourist visa multiple entry from Royal Thai Embassy or Royal Thai Consulate-General before departure to Thailand.

2. Is there any advice for those tourist who allow to stay in Thailand for 30 days by without visa but unfortunately, they must to stay over for a little while by accidentally or sickness before going back to their hometown?

Answer In this case, the tourist should provide the medical certificate to the Immigrations within 30 days from the date of arrival then the immigrations will consider in case by case and will give them a permission to stay if necessary. For those who is over stay by without permission, they will be fined among the day of over stay on the date of departure. (Be fined 500 bath per day or total will not be over 20,000 baht.)

3. Is there any advice for Thai people who get married with foreigner and they wish to move to live in Thailand with their spouse?

Answer First of all, they must ask for legally marriage certificate which can be either Thai or American. Then bring that document with spouse’s Thai Identification Card to apply for a visa (Non-immigrant “O”) at Royal Thai Embassy or Royal Thai Consulate-General. Once their spouse get a visa then they will allow to live in Thailand up to 90 days for each time and they can also go to any Thai Immigration office to extend their stay with the total up to 1 year.

4. In case of the foreigner who live in Thailand and wish to change their status because of getting marry with Thai people or change status from tourist to be other. Do they need to contact Thai Immigration office to ask for a permission?

Answer Yes, Thai Immigration office will consider from documentations if necessary. In some case, they might need to go back to their country in order to apply for the properly visa to avoid any trouble in the future
